Vancouver Island University Donation

Members of the Ladysmith Show ’n Shine committee made a very welcoming presentation to Vancouver Island University last week.

The car show held a very successful event, in downtown Ladysmith in 2024 and the members used that success to help others. Late in 2024, the group made a donation to the Vancouver Island Swim Club and also donated to the Ladysmith Resources Centre and to the Ladysmith Food Bank.

Over the years of the event, the organizers have made a point of trying to help students taking courses in the automotive field at Vancouver Island University. The donated funds are put in the Sam Bailey Endowment and create an ongoing pot of money that raises interest, funds distributed in the form of bursaries to students at the University.

Pictured (left to right) handing over the group's $3,000 contribution are Clint L’Heureux; Martyn Byrne; VIU’s Manager of Aloumni and Donor Relations, Litte Masse; Show ’n Shine chair Bob Purslow; and member Ron Hovestead who also owns the red Ford Mustang.
